Here’s a question I received from Laura (her name has been changed for privacy purposes).
I wanted to share it since it was such a unique inquiry…yet I’m sure there are many of you that feel the same way.
Here is Laura’s question…
Hi Tessa, I wrote a comment on one of your blogs, but I really need help. My butt is uneven and I want to fix it. My left cheek is smaller than the right. The right hangs down lower. Since they are both made of mostly fat, I was wondering should I work on the right cheek to bring it up, or the left cheek to bring it down? And what excersises should I be doing?
Definitely work on getting that other cheek up! With the way that gravity pulls everything down, we always want to work on pulling things up!
What I would suggest for you is working always on individual leg exercises. What I mean by this is when you do squats, do ONE legged squats. Stand in front of a chair, lift one foot off the ground and then sit back using only one leg, come back up using the same leg.
It seems that you have one muscle that is the alpha muscle. It wants to take over and never let the other side work that hard. So single leg exercises should help this.
In fact, I have been doing a new way of working out over the last couple of months and I am in the process of filming these. They will be up soon on youtube. The nice part about the way I have been exercising is that it uses your body weight and always focuses on building one side at a time. You get a much more even toning doing it this way.
So do your best at getting single leg movements in there. As you are walking throughout the day make sure to think about squeezing the butt cheek that doesn’t seem to want to rise. This constant throughout the day should help as well.
So here is a list…
single leg deadlifts (will get the hamstrings and butt sore every time!)
single leg squats
lots of lunges…walking lunges are the best and you need to concentrate on the buttcheek that is giving you trouble.
Look for my next workout on youtube…it will hit that cheek evenly.
I hope that this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I know that I told you I would always give you more pictures and I’ve working hard to do that!!! Someone asked the other day if I would be in them…so I’ll work on it. Below is my new backyard! There’s some more work that needs to be done for it…but it’s getting there!
Remember to keep moving through out the day! In fact, give yourself projects everyday such as working on a back yard and you’ll drop weight in no time. Aloha!
