I was working this weekend in Malibu with the other side of me…acting. It had to do with my fitness side since I was pretending to be a celebrity trainer. As I was being interviewed by the host, she was telling me that the things that are important are the quick and easy tips for celebrities to get red carpet ready. Anything beyond quick and easy, people won’t do. It got me thinking. There are those things that I do if I am needing to lose a quick five to ten pounds. Everyone obviously knows that I prefer everyone to understand that health has to seep into your bones and become a part of your life and that doesn’t happen over night. But I get it! The quick things can be just as important.
So here are just a few quick and easy ways to look thinner and literally drop pounds before something important. Continue reading
I’ve used every excuse in the book. In fact I would say that I was the queen of excuses, if there are royalty of such. When I was just a kid I loved going out with my mom and my second mom, Luanne. My second mom was simply my mom’s closest friend that I attached myself to like a bee to a flower. That was how sweet she was to me. Every chance I had, I wanted to spend my day surrounded by these women, just hanging out and walking through the mall. But I must say that “walking” isn’t really the correct word. They walked…I rode. Comfortably in my stroller, I sat with whatever toy I had brought. If I was ever asked to walk, there was simply shock on my face. “Walk?” You have to be kidding. I remember being this kid, but I don’t remember why. There was just something in me that didn’t want to move on my own. I continued this behavior well into my teens.
I made excuses why I couldn’t run on my AYSO soccer team when I was only five. I hated practice because it meant that I had to run. My coach saw this quickly and started me as goalie. Continue reading
What is the one thing you want from your life? If you are like me, than you don’t really have an easy answer to that question. There are so many things that I would like to accomplish that I could never narrow it down to one thing. Although, I do know that the one thing in my life that has probably gobbled up most of my time has been food, eating, health, weight gain, weight loss, working out. So I would say that even though I can not pick one thing that I want from my life, I can tell you that at the top of my list is to be healthy inside and out. It’s no wonder that this is so hard! We have to eat all of the time! It’s the same thing as when someone hasn’t found the love of their life. Our make-up is so fantastically wrapped up in these things because they are needed! We need love! We need food!
So how can we be so good all of the time! If we need several meals a day, how can we be good at every meal? Continue reading
Sure-fire ways to lose weight…
These tips have actually worked to take me from 180 pounds to 132 pounds. I live by these!
1. Always eat breakfast.
2. Every meal needs protein.
3. Eat several times a day for two reasons, A) so that you don’t get so hungry that you make bad decisions, and B) to keep your metabolism revved throughout the day.
4. Watch your sodium intake! The average American takes in 3400 mgs of sodium, when you should be taking in less than 2000.
5. Stay away from sugar, it makes you hungrier. Continue reading
So, at first, my goal for sugar free was just trial and error. I had never done it before, so it was difficult spending so much time looking things over. What you quickly realize when beginning a sugar free lifestyle is that it inevitably leads you in the direction of eating clean. Eating Clean is technically just trying to eat as unprocessed as possible and making things from scratch. So when I began to realize that most everything was made with sugar, (I didn’t even know what Eating Clean meant at this time) I suddenly had to learn an entirely new way to eat. I started to make my own turkeyloafs, salads, sandwiches, etc.
Here is the thing that will help you the most, I believe. So even though it was difficult to begin, the benefits were phenomenal. Within a month, my stomach continued to grow, but the rest of my body starting looking better. What? That’s impossible, right? I mean this is the time that your body is supposed to look worse and you have an excuse for it. Yet, I couldn’t use that excuse. I just had worked so hard to get to the point that I was. I began to see changes in my legs and arms. They were actually getting smaller. Was I gaining weight? Yes! Of course! The only difference was, I was eating so clean that my body didn’t need to store anything as fat. I was fueling my baby, my body, and doing it without spreading out. Continue reading
